She’s the only one like this that has come our way, with a mixture geometric and traditional design and adorned with sequins which are surrounded by white trim and all set against an ivory background. Moroccan Wedding Blankets, also known as Handira are traditionally handmade by The Berber women of the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. These exquisite pieces are made in anticipation of a wedding, the ‘bride to be’s’ female relatives come together in unison to intricately create and sew these blankets adorning them with thousands of sequins. During this time the bride will be educated on ‘the birds and the bees’ and her future role as a wife.
Each blanket is unique and holds its own character, markings, imperfections….making them perfectly imperfect x
